Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Event Buddy Discord bot and its companion website (together, the "Service"). By adding Event Buddy to a Discord server, logging into the web panel, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. What the Service does

Event Buddy lets server moderators create, schedule, and manage community events from a web panel, and automatically posts announcements, reminders, and digests about those events into the Discord server's channels.

2. Eligibility

You must meet Discord's own minimum age requirement and comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines to use this Service. Event Buddy is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord Inc.

3. Access to the web panel

Only members holding a role that a server's administrator has explicitly granted access to (via the bot's /eb mod-role command) can create or edit events for that server. Server administrators are responsible for deciding who holds that role.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

5. Availability

Event Buddy is a free, hobby project run by an individual, not a company. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, with no guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, maintained, updated, or available at all — it may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time, for any server, without notice.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Event Buddy and the individual who operates it are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including but not limited to missed events, failed or duplicate reminders, incorrect announcements, lost or corrupted event, RSVP, or bracket data, or decisions a server's moderators or members make based on information the Service displays. You use the Service at your own risk, and it is provided with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

7. Support the project (Patreon)

Any Patreon page linked from the Service is operated directly by Patreon, Inc., not by Event Buddy. Supporting the project there is entirely optional and has no effect on your access to the Service. Any payment or account information you provide is handled by Patreon under its own terms — see its Terms of Use.

8. Termination

A server administrator can remove Event Buddy from their server at any time. Doing so immediately and permanently deletes everything stored for that server — its configuration, categories, templates, events, RSVPs, teams, brackets, and history — as described in the Privacy Policy. Re-adding Event Buddy afterward starts that server over from scratch.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continuing to use the Service after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Contact
